Whenever you travel to a new place, you realise there’s so much of the world still to discover. There are so many amazing and diversified travel destinations around the world that are waiting to be explored. But with so many choices, it can be a little hard to plan and decide which countries to add into your bucket list.

This post will shed some light on the World’s Best Places to Visit, taking into account travelers’ votes, travel experts’ opinions and my own personal experience which will help you design your 2018 travel bucket list.

1. Sydney, Australia

sydney

Sydney is not actually the capital city of Australia. Surprised? You don’t need to be as lots of people think it is because there are so many attractions that are associated with the city.

Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge can be the main attractions but definitely  not the only ones. Part of the city is laid-back beach where you can spend the day at the Bondi Beach, and part is cultural where you can visit the Hyde Park Barracks Museum.

Regardless of what your interests are, you would definitely leave Sydney with amazing memories from experiencing its many facets that please a variety of travelers.

2. Paris, France

Paris

Paris the City of Light — ranks in at number three on TripAdvisor’s list and one of the top visited destinations in the world. The city is renowned for its world-class restaurants and high end shops; and of course best known for popular sites like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Arc de Triomphe,

Attracting families, solo tourists and groups of friends, the extraordinary combination of culture and history, from the old to the new does everything and will definitely allure all type of travelers.

The city is the fashion centre of the world and even if you are not a fan of shopping, ignoring the shops of Paris would be a crime against your wardrobe. With the luxury brand names on the streets, you should be very cautious not to bankrupt yourself.

3. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague

I loved Prague so much, it is a lively and charming city. Czech people (in general) are friendly and eager to have fun with foreigners. Streets are riddled with cafes, pubs, restaurants and talented artists. Similar to Paris which is considered to be the capital of street art, top live street music is played at every corner and the rhythm of the city is played by top street musicians. Except for musicians that brighten your visit in the city, there are also hundreds of painters who portray Prague from their own perspective

Prague offers incredible and charming architecture and Gothic structures such as Prague Castle (the largest castle complex in the world) which will definitely make you feel as if you’re in a fairy tale and the Old Town Square.

You can also find plenty of cool bars with music for every taste. However, I would not advise to visit the ones that are recommended in the tourists guides. They are usually overcrowded and you need to wait ages in the line.

4. Venice, Italy

Venice

It is built on more than 100 small islands with no roads, only canals. The Campanile bell tower in central square offers stunning views of the city and St. Mark’s Basilica.

Venice is one of the top destinations in the world that is considered the most romantic city on earth and couples want to visit. However, it will still leave you mesmerized even if you are single.

Venice is quite popular and crowded with tourists, if you prefer tasting local cuisine, just go to parts of the city with few tourists. Restaurants in these areas are mostly visited by locals so their foods remain unchanged by the booming tourism.

The best way to truly appreciate the beauty of the city is to simply get lost and Walk around wherever your feet take you. Look at each bridge, neighbourhood, and canal where you can experience real Venice culture and traditions.

5. St. Petersburg, Russia

St Petersburg

Russian port city on the Baltic Sea. It is known as City of Bridges or Northern Venice with 68 rivers and channels across the city forming 42 islands. There are 580 bridges in St. Petersburg and its suburbs.

It is the second largest city in Russia with rich history and culture. Some architectural monuments on the territory of the Russian Federation are included into the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites along with Venice, Paris, and Rome.

There are enough monuments of art in St. Petersburg, restaurants and nightclubs, which will always make you think to come back here again and again.

If I compare St. Petersburg to Moscow -having visited both cities- Moscow is incredible but it is nothing compared to St. Petersburg which is known as a very popular destination for tourists in Russia where you can find and explore amazing and magnificent mansions.

The trip from Moscow to St. Petersburg by train is a nine hour trip, 687 km, but it is worth such sacrifices.

Peterhof is a capital of fountains, the park usually work from May to September and is an obligatory point for visiting by tourists who come to St. Petersburg in summer.

It is impossible to list all the advantages of this city, all its sights, interesting places and facts, but what exactly is clear – it is worth visiting! You can just wander along the streets, sit on the bridge, or ride in a small boat on the river and enjoy this atmosphere from any corner of St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg Bonus – White Nights

White Nights is when the street lighting is not even turned on, leaving the people of St. Petersburg alone with a natural twilight light. It is the time when the evening dawn meets with the morning one. The period to experience the white nights in St. Petersburg is from the 11th of June till the 2nd of July.
